Philosophy of Ramakrishna Mission Sevashrama, Muzaffarpur are characterized by the following features of its parent organization, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math, Howrah (W.B.) which distinguishes it from other NGOs.

1.Spiritural Conception:

Ordinarily all N.G.Os come into existence from materialistic source of inspiration. They are conceived in the context of existing geographical, social and cultural situations. Their needs are mostly confined to materialistic fulfillment. But the Ramakrishna Order was first conceived by its preceptors, Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda in the world of spiritual sphere, the world of Idea and then it was brought into existence in the said context to serve both the materialistic and spiritual ends of present and future. Hence it has its divine origin in the world of Idea which becomes a perennial source of inspiration to mankind.

2.Unique Motto : Atmano Moksartham Jagat Hitaya Cha

Ramakrishna Mission is a solitary institution with the grand motto, "Salvation of one's own self and good of the world"

            (a) Uniqueness of the Ramakrishna Mission lies in the fact that it emphasizes a balanced development of human personality. Social services as an activity of the external world are allowed only to the extent, a man is capable of entering into the internal world of spiritual sphere, the world of Idea, or to the extent he is capable of exercising his spiritual faculties.

          (b) The motto serves as a check and balance of the rapid and random growth of organizational structure. It is a rare feature of the organization.

          (c) The unique motto influences the mode of service. All services are done in the spirit of worship so that these lead to salvation of one's own self. Renunciation, honesty, transparency and sincerity and love for ideal become natural and established mode of work.

3.Small but holistic contribution :

In the national development and progress of civilization- General notion of N.G.Os regarding development and civilization is confined to material and intellectual development. But our organization stresses upon moral and spiritual progress no less than material and intellectual progress. Bereft of moral and spiritual values all progress and civilization is unsustainable. The view of Swami Vivekananda regarding civilization may be cited here : "Civilization is manifestation of that divinity in man...the history of civilization is the progressive reading of spirit into matter." The Ramakrishna Order contributes in the process of civilization by spiritualizing the mankind in the world of materialistic outlook.
